Auto executives blasted over private jet use

A private citizens group in the US has objected to the use of luxury jets, which flew US auto executives to Washington.

Citizens Against Government Waste said the executives had given taxpayers a slap in the face, by arriving in Washington in corporate jets to ask for a federal bailout.

Rick Wagoner, chief Executive officer of General Motors used one of the company's eight luxury jets, a $36 million aircraft, to travel to the hearing.

Wagoner told the Senate Banking Committee GM could run out of cash by the end of the year.

One of Ford’s fleet of eight private jets ferried Chief Executive Officer Alan Mulally to Washington.

Chrysler CEO Robert Nardelli also chose private jet travel.
