FOUNTAIN VALLEY, California: Hyundai Motor will recall more than 568,000 Palisade SUVs in the United States after regulators warned that faulty seat belt buckles could fail to secure passengers in a crash.

The recall, disclosed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on September 18, affects certain Palisade vehicles from the 2020 through 2025 model years.

According to the agency, components in the seat belt buckle assemblies may have been manufactured with out-of-specification physical dimensions, raising the risk that the belt would not latch properly in the event of an accident.

Until repairs are made, customers are advised to insert the seat belt firmly into the buckle with a quick, direct motion and then pull on the belt to confirm it is fully secured, NHTSA said.

Hyundai has not yet detailed the remedy or repair timeline, but it is expected to notify the owners directly.
